About Me

Joan Roth
I am an award-winning, worldwide recognized photographer, writer and videographer, as well as a public speaker, based in New York City. My work has been exhibited, published and collected in America, Europe and Israel. I've documented the lives of Jewish women, women, Jewish communities and more for over 40 years. I am the author of two books:Shopping bag Ladies of New York and Jewish Women: A World of Tradition and Change. In addition, my work has been published in many books, catalogues, magazines and more. I am also the photographer for Lilith Magazine and have worked on behalf of many Jewish organizations. As such, I have an extensive archive and great stories to tell. For I was the among the first Jewish women to chroncile the above, before it became fashionable and all the rage to do so. I have served on the Hadassah-Brandeis advisory board at Brandeis University since it was founded in the 1980s and have recently joined the New York Jewish Women's Foundation
